BS Klim OP Zandbergen primary school was awarded the prize in the “Interiors – Education” category at the World Architecture Festival (WAF), which took place from November 12 to 14, 2025, in Miami. This international recognition underscores the innovative nature of the design and the exceptional quality of the interior finish.

The project was realized by Alheembouw, based on an architectural design by B2Ai architects & VK architects (BE)and an inspiring interior concept by Rosan Bosch (DK) . Together, they created a learning environment that is not only functional and sustainable, but also aesthetically and pedagogically progressive.

    Acoustic and aesthetic added value
High-quality acoustic absorption panels from Triplaco Home | Triplacoustics , type Ls m, were chosen for the walls. These panels are constructed from rubberwood slats with a natural oil finish, fully glued onto a 12 mm black acoustic PET sheet. This combination creates a warm, natural look and optimal sound absorption class A (alpha w 0.95), contributing to a quiet and pleasant learning environment.

The use of these panels illustrates how design, acoustics, and sustainability can go hand in hand in contemporary educational architecture. The use of rubberwood—a circular material—and PET sheets made from recycled fibers fits perfectly with the vision of a future-oriented school.

    International recognition
The jury of the World Architecture Festival praised the project for its innovative approach, using interior design as a driver for creativity and well-being in education. The winning design by BS Klim OP Zandbergen puts Belgium on the map as a pioneer in sustainable and inspiring learning environments.
